Fall Kick-Off Information

Thanks to all the youth and parents who participated in our Fall Kick-Off last night. We had 60+ people and lots of great pizza. (Thanks to Robyn Arab and Pizza Perfect!

If you weren't able to attend, here are some highlights:

  • Sunday school is from 10:45 a.m. until noon. Everyone meets in the CYF Lounge to begin, and then we'll split up from there. New for this year - - separate classes for 6th/7th grade and 8th grade!
  • Sunday evening youth groups are officially underway, as is Jubilation youth choir. The schedule is:
4:00 Jubilation (in the Jubilation Room, youth wing)
5:30 Youth Dinner in Fellowship Hall/Gym
6:00 CYF (9th-12th) and Chi Rho (6th-8th) youth groups
7:00 Goodbye! Adios! See ya!

  • Wednesday night Bible study is from 6:45-7:45 p.m. Don't forget to make reservations by Monday at noon if you're going to eat at the Five Star Dinner. Dinner begins at 5:45 p.m.
  • We need a health form for each youth! Parent signature must be notarized, and we need a copy of your insurance card. This form is good for all youth activities through Aug '07. Forms are available in the church office, and Brenda Lewis (our receptionist) is a notary.
  • Parents -- please sign up to provide Sunday evening youth dinner and/or Sunday morning donuts. This year, instead of charging $4 for youth dinner, we're asking each family to provide dinner for one night (per child in the program). We think in the long run this may save you money! Kim Sheridan and Jan Goans have sign up sheet for the dinners and donuts.
  • Pumpkins arrive Oct 4! We'll meet at 4:00 p.m. to start unloading. Dinner will be provided -- probably pizza. Also, Beth will give a prize to the youth who brings the most friends to help.
  • Summer Trip -- We're planning to attend the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fort Worth, Texas, around the dates of July 21-25. This trip will include a mission component, Jubilation performances, a chance to meet youth from all over the U.S. and Canada, and some summer fun (Six Flags Over Texas, anyone?). We hope to stay in the dorms at Texas Christian University. More information to follow.
  • Scholarships are available for all youth activities. We would never want anyone to miss out because of $$$. Just talk with Thom or Beth -- discretion is our middle name. :)
  • Finally, Thom and Beth are working to improve communication. This blog is our first step, but we won't stop there. If you have suggestions or questions, please feel free to contact either one of us.
Check this blog regularly for updates, to make comments or ask questions, and just generally keep the information flowing.

Blessings,

Beth and Thom
